Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice

Last updated: March 8, 2026

This notice explains how Reformular collects and uses consumer health data, consistent with applicable privacy laws including the Washington State My Health My Data Act and Nevada's Consumer Health Data Privacy Law. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle personal data.

Health Data We Collect

Depending on what you use and share, we may collect:

  • Body metrics: age, height, weight, sex, body fat percentage.
  • Goals and dietary data: calorie targets, macro goals, dietary preferences, allergies, food logs, meal photos.
  • Activity data: if you connect Apple Health — steps and active calories burned.
  • Weight history: if you log weight through the app or Apple Health sync.
  • Location: country only (not precise location), if you grant permission.

This data is necessary to provide personalised nutrition tracking. Without it, Reformular cannot give personalised feedback. Users are free to delete or modify their entries containing health data at any time from within the app.

Sources of Health Data

  • Directly from you when you create an account, complete onboarding, log meals, upload photos, enter body metrics, or contact support.
  • From Apple Health / HealthKit when you authorize that connection.
  • From device permissions and settings you choose to enable, such as country-level location.

How We Use Your Health Data

  • To operate the app and provide personalised nutrition tracking.
  • To calculate your nutrition targets using validated equations.
  • To generate AI responses about your food logs with relevant context.
  • To display HealthKit-connected progress data and sync meals and weight with Apple Health when you enable those features.

We do not sell your health data. We do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers. We do not authorise any third party to collect health data across different websites or services when you use Reformular.

Who We Share It With

The categories of consumer health data we may disclose, depending on your use of the app, include body metrics, nutrition goals, food logs, meal photos, weight history, country, and Apple Health data that you choose to sync. Your health data may be processed by our service providers as follows:

  • Convex — backend infrastructure and data storage. Convex may process account identifiers, body metrics, nutrition goals, food logs, meal photos, and weight history that you store in Reformular.
  • AI providers (via OpenRouter and Perplexity) — for meal analysis and nutrition lookup. These providers may process meal descriptions, meal photos, nutrition goals, dietary preferences, and limited context needed to answer your request. We do not send Apple Health data, precise location, or your name to AI providers.
  • RevenueCat — subscription management and entitlement verification. RevenueCat processes subscription and transaction data, not your meal logs or Apple Health data.
  • Apple — HealthKit sync, Sign in with Apple, and in-app purchases, governed by Apple's privacy policy.

We may disclose health data as required by law or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger or acquisition.

If we want to collect, use, or disclose your consumer health data for a new purpose that requires consent under applicable law, we will obtain that consent first.

Your Rights

  • Access and deletion: delete your account and all associated data from Settings > Delete Account within the app.
  • Revoke permissions: revoke HealthKit, camera, location, or notification access at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Withdraw consent / stop collection: you may request that we stop collecting or sharing consumer health data that depends on your consent by emailing privacy@reformular.com, and you can also disconnect HealthKit and other permissions in your device settings.
  • Appeal: if we deny a request to access or delete your health data, you may appeal by emailing privacy@reformular.com. Washington residents may contact the Washington State Attorney General; Nevada residents may contact the Nevada Attorney General.
